Compare all operators in the budget flights market. These include, but are not exclusive to EasyJet, RyanAir, Jet2 and Britsh Airways.
Book early. Every carrier has differnet tiers of pricing for seats. If you book well in advance, you could be lucky at getting one of the seats that costs less than a pound. The longer you leave, or the closer to the travel date you are, the more likely that the plane will be nearing full capacity, driving up the cost of the seats.
Certain carriers have made their seating prices ever lower. However, they are recouping this loss, by charging an extra fee on baggage. There can be a fee of around £8.00 on bags. If possible, travel light. A good tip, if more than one person is traveling, is to share a suitcase or a bag - so you only have one bag between you.
Shop around. There are comparison web sites, that will automatically search all the airlines for flights on or around the time you want to travel, however, the majority of these sites will be affiliated to just one specific airline, so it would be best advised to go to the airlines directly.
